How to Cook Farmer’s Porridge (Farina on the Stove)

Creamy wheat farina porridge is classic breakfast for people all around the world. It is a mild smooth cereal made from the endosperm of whole wheat. It can be made sweet by adding dried fruit and syrup or it can be served savory with cracked pepper, butter and cheese. Farina has been used as a portion of the flour in baked products like muffins and bread, but it is most often consumed as a breakfast cereal.

Our Farmer’s Porridge Farina is simple to cook, but there are some tricks to keep it from being lumpy. Here’s the basic recipe!

Farmer’s Porridge Basic Stove-top Farina

1 cup Organic Grains Farmer’s Farina 
4 cups Water
1/8th Salt

Directions: In a 1 ½ quart pot, bring water and a pinch of salt to a near boil. Remove from heat. Add Organic Grains Farmer’s Porridge Farina cereal slowly, stirring constantly.

Return to burner and bring to a boil, then lower heat and cook approximately 3 minutes or until thickened, stirring constantly.
