Ingredients:
3 C Organic Grains All Purpose Flour
1 packet (2 tsp) active dry yeast
1/2 tsp salt
1 C water, lukewarm
1/4 olive oil, divided
1 C sliced red onion
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (or plant-based alternative)
7 dried figs, coarsely chopped
1 Tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
Coarse ground fresh pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Combine Organic Grains All Purpose Flour, yest and salt in a large bowl
- Add water and 2 Tbsp of olive oil, mix until a sticky batter is formed (about 3 minutes)
- Cover bowl and let batter rise in a warm place for 30 minutes (the dough will have risen, but may not be doubled)
- After 30 minutes have elapsed, punch down the dough, forcing out any large air bubbles
- Cover loosely and allow dough to rise another 15 minutes
- While the dough is rising, heat the remaining olive oil in a 9-inch skilled over medium heat
- Add sliced red onions and cook over medium heat until tender, you will need to stir occasionally so they don't burn
- When cooked through, the onions will be transparent
- Cool slightly before placing onions onto the dough (they will brown during baking)
- Lightly spray a 12-inch pizza pan with organic, non-stick cooking spray
- Press the dough into the pan, pressing so it sticks to the pan sides (or form into a shape of your choosing)
- Press dimples into the dough using a wooden spoon or your knuckles
- Spread olive oil all over the dough, it will fill the dimples
- Place onion slices on top and sprinkle with cheese, figs, rosemary and fresh ground pepper
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are brown and the cheese is melted. The bread should have an internal temperature of 190°F to ensure that it is cooked through properly
- Top with MiaBella Balsamic Vinegar and enjoy!
